We are a church that believes in big things for you because we serve a big God. A God who wants to do big things in your life. We are here to assist you in your pursuit of Him, and to celebrate Jesus with you. We are here to love you, to pray with you, rejoice with you and to stand with you.
If you are unfamiliar with CFM, please allow us the pleasure of meeting with you and getting to know you. Should you decide to make CFM your spiritual home, we would love the opportunity to work with you, knowing that together we can make a difference in this world. We pray God’s best for your life. Our History
Pastor Doug and his wife, Karen, were called to found Church on Fire Ministries after almost 20 years of working in youth ministry. In August of 1996 they moved from their position in Georgia to Harrison, Ohio to start the church.
For several months they met in a home with between nine and fifteen people and prayed for the church that was to come. In October of that year, the first service was held. Twenty-seven people came and CFM was officially established. The church began to grow as people were born again and lives were changed.
The CFM congregation has grown so quickly over the years that often a larger building was needed. The church is now in its fifteenth year and is in its fifteenth building. In 2004 a 40,000 square foot grocery store was purchased and was turned into the existing church facility.
We Believe
The Trinity - We believe it is the testimony of both the Old and New Testaments and of the Christian Church that God is both One and Triune. The biblical revelation testifies that there is only one God and that He is eternally existent in three persons - Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
God the Father - is the creator and sustainer of all things, and He created the universe in love. He created man in His own image for fellowship and called man back to Himself through Christ after the rebellion and fall of man.
The Son - Jesus Christ is eternally God. He was together with the Father and the Holy Spirit from the beginning, and through Him all things were made. For man's redemption, He left heaven and became incarnate by the Holy Spirit through the virgin Mary; henceforth, He is forever one Christ with two natures - God & man - in one person.
The Holy Spirit - The Holy Spirit is God, the Lord and giver of life, who was active in the Old Testament and given to the Church in fullness at Pentecost. He empowers the believer for service and witness, cleanses man from the old nature and conforms us to the image of Christ. The baptism in the Holy Spirit, subsequent to conversion, releases the fullness of the Spirit and is evidenced by the fruits and gifts of the Holy Spirit.
The Scripture - We believe that the Bible, containing the Old and New Testaments, is alone the only infallible, inspired Word of God, and that it's authority is ultimate, final and eternal. It cannot be added to, subtracted from or superseded in any regard. The Bible is the source of all doctrine, instruction, correction and reproof. It contains all that is needed for guidance in godliness and practical Christian conduct.
The Deity of our Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that He was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, and that He led a sinless life. We believe in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the father, and His personal future return to this earth in power and glory, as King of Kings and Lord of Lords (Matthew 16:16).
The fall of man, and his lost condition, which makes necessary a new birth, through repentance and the belief in the Lord Jesus Christ and His precious Blood (I Peter 2:24).
In water baptism by total submersion in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Since our Lord commanded it, we believe it should be observed. It is an act of faith and testimony subsequent to regeneration and as an outward sign of the inward spiritual work brought about in our hearts by the new birth (Matthew 28:19).
